Organization
DPI consists of a small team managing a quite extensive network of activities and relations between industry and academia. As a research institute, acting as the interface between science and industry in the field of polymer science and technology, DPI needs to ensure focus, excellence and sufficient mass in its activities. DPI's activities should enable its partners to meet societal, sustainability related and economic needs through application-inspired polymer research. With regard to the research activities of DPI, industry defines the ‘what', the research direction and objectives, and academia defines ‘how' this ‘what' should be developed, i.e. the research projects.
The way the governance of DPI's activities is organized, is best illustrated through three main attention areas:
- The set of its governing bodies and the division of powers and activities among bodies
- The management of the research programmes
- The valorisation of research through IP processes
The DPI foundation comprises the following bodies:
- Council
- Programme Committees (PC)
- Supervisory Board (SB)
- Executive Board (EB)
- Scientific Reference Committee (SRC)
- R&D management
- Staff
