Polycondensation 2010 Conference

September 5th, 2010 - September 8th, 2010

The "Polycondensation 2010" conference will be held at the Rolduc Abbey, Kerkrade, The Netherlands, from September 5-8, 2010.

Polycondensation or step-growth polymerization is one of the three dominating polymerization mechanisms applied for the industrial manufacturing of polymers. Step-growth polymers form the basis for many commodity polymers, engineering plastics, coatings, (hot melt) adhesives, films and fibres, and almost all high performance polymers are manufactured using this polymerization mechanism. With this in mind, the first meeting of the series of Polycondensation conferences was organized in Paris in 1996. Ever since, this specialized meeting was organized every two years.

The organizing committee wants the Polycondensation 2010 conference to cover a wide range of topics, showcasing the most exciting fields of condensation polymer science and technology, and the proposed program will be based on the following themes:

-       Step growth polymers for coating applications

-       Step growth polymers for engineering plastics applications

-       Step growth polymers for biomedical applications

-       Step growth polymers for fibre applications

-       Step growth polymers from biomass-based resources

-       Step growth polymers inspired by concepts from nature

-       Step growth polymers with environmentally degradability

-       Step growth polymers in blends & composites

-       Step growth polymers for optical and electronic applications

-       Advances in molecular characterization of step growth polymers

-       New methods for controlled synthesis of step-growth polymers

For the Polycondensation 2010 meeting the organizing committee strives to schedule 20-25 invited lectures, 20-25 contributed lectures and at least 50-80 posters. The poster presentations will form an important part of this conference. The selection of the contributing lectures will be based on the content of the submitted abstracts.

Abstracts are invited. Abstract submission deadline: 15 January 2010
